Residency
Verso Residency is a four-week artist residency programme based in Lisbon. The programme invites artists from diverse geographic and cultural contexts to develop projects in dialogue with the city’s artistic ecosystem.
The residency is conceived as a platform for exchange between Europe and the Global South, encouraging projects that engage with questions of territory, cultural translation, and the transnational circulation of artistic practices.
Located in the Campo de Ourique neighbourhood, the residency takes place within an active gallery space, allowing artists to develop their projects in direct contact with curators, collectors, and cultural institutions.
CURATORIAL FRAMEWORK
Verso Residency approaches Lisbon as a historical space of circulation and encounter between territories.
Situated at the intersection of different Atlantic routes, the city today constitutes a privileged point of dialogue between artists, geographies, and diverse cultural traditions.
The programme encourages projects that investigate displacement, cultural translation, and the circulation of artistic practices across different social and symbolic contexts.
Particular attention is given to relationships between Europe and the Global South, especially to dialogues involving Portuguese-speaking countries, Latin America, and other regions connected through histories of migration and cultural exchange.
