DerlonJune 10 – August 28, 2026

The exhibition brings together a new series of works, partly produced during Derlon's stay in Lisbon. The process incorporates materials and references collected in the city, establishing a dialogue between contexts and expanding the artist's symbolic repertoire.
One of the axes of the show is the presence of an iconography linked to popular Catholicism, with emphasis on Saint Anthony — patron saint of Lisbon and a central figure in the city's festivities. This reference crosses the exhibition in dialogue with devotional practices and forms of worship present in both Portuguese and Brazilian northeastern contexts.
The installation brings the exhibition space close to a logic of accumulation and arrangement that evokes domestic interiors and devotional spaces alike. In between, the distinction between the sacred and profane does not stabilize, remaining continuously tensioned.
Formally, Derlon's work is constructed through an economy of means: the recurring use of black and white focuses attention on image structure and figure-ground relations, resolving the tension between formal restraint and motive intensity.
The exhibition also continues the artist's engagement with the city, following a mural at LX Factory, today integrated into Lisbon's visual landscape. Here, this presence moves into the gallery space in another scale and temporality.
In 'O de todo dia também quer ser milagre', Derlon's practice proposes an inflection: it is not about representing the sacred, but situating it on the plane of ordinary experience, where it remains in dispute.
